Work continued in Genoa on August 15 to clear rubble and wreckage from the site of viaduct that collapsed the previous day, killing at least 39 people.
The city council declared two days of mourning, for August 15 and 16, in the wake of the disaster, while Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte declared a 12-month “state of emergency”, local reports said.
Eleven residential buildings have been made unavailable for safety reasons, and the city council appealed to hotels and local municipalities to help with temporary accommodation.
