Wellington residents were delighted to see a pod of orcas exploring the harbour on Monday, August 13. In this video, taken near a lighthouse on Massey Road, the whales’ long, black fins can be seen cutting through the water.

Many others took to social media to share footage of the pod. Speculators said they appeared to be moving rapidly around the coastline, possibly looking for stingrays and seals to feed on, Stuff reported. Credit: Lori Miller via Storyful
