South Korea has banned four ships that were used to illegally bring North Korean coal into the country.
Seoul's foreign ministry announced late Sunday that from Saturday, August 11th, four ships,... namely Sky Angel, Rich Glory, Shinning Rich and Jin Long have been prohibited from entering South Korean ports.
Having transferred banned North Korean coal, these ships violated UN Security Council resolution 2371, and will be reported to the UNSC committee on North Korea sanctions once Seoul's investigation comes to a close.
This comes just days after South Korea's Customs Service announced its initial findings on the months long investigation of nine cases that were suspected of trading North Korean coal.
Of them, seven cases were found illicit and three local firms and their representatives have been referred to the prosecution.
