House Speaker Paul Ryan recently talked about coming to the realization that when President Trump called him a "boy scout," it was meant as an insult. Ryan told the New York Times that, at first, "I thought it was a compliment." However, after the passage of some bills, Trump reportedly told the speaker that he'd be dropping the nickname.
"So I guess he meant it as an insult all along. I didn't realize," Ryan commented. It seems that others weren't quite as in the dark when it came to Trump's intentions. Politico reported in September of last year that the president has "told staff that he finds Speaker Paul Ryan, whom he's dubbed a 'boy scout,' dry."
