The Carr Fire in Shasta and Trinity Counties has scorched more than 160,000 acres, destroyed more than 1,000 homes, and killed at least seven people, officials said Monday morning, August 6.

Hundreds of other homes and buildings are still threatened by the blaze, which is at 45 percent containment.
