Protesters shut down parts of Harare’s Central Business District on August 1, as early voting results indicated Emmerson Mnangagwa was in the lead to win the presidential election.

His party, Zanu-PF, looked set to win the majority of parliament seats.

In this footage filmed from the office of the Financial Gazette, people mob a car driving on Robert Mugabe Road in Harare. The reporter who took the video said protesters threw a brick through the window of the office, and a loud crash and the sound of breaking glass is audible in this video.

Reports said supporters of the rival party, MDC Alliance, set a Zanu-PF flag on fire.

On July 31 Zimbabwe took to the polls for the first time since the removal of Robert Mugabe, also a Zanu-PF member, as president in 2017. Mugabe had been president for 30 years after serving as prime minister for seven years. Credit: Financial Gazette Zimbabwe, Ndakaziva Majaka via Storyful
