Breaking news from Colombia, where, after a week of drama the former president Alvaro Uribe has asked the senate to ignore his request to resign as a senator. Uribe announced his decision on Twitter, after the supreme court said it would continue to investigate him for bribing witnesses in a case relating to his alleged involvement with right-wing paramilitaries.
