Jesse Watters attempted to explain and defend President Trump’s immigration policies but ended up being accused of racism.
Jesse Watters, host of Fox News' 'The Five,' on Monday attempted to explain and defend President Trump's immigration policies but ended up being accused of racism. During a discussion about the president's goals, Juan Williams stated, "he wants to cut legal immigration, don't forget that."
"He wants merit-based," Watters replied. "That would cut legal immigration by bringing in the best and the brightest. So we don't bring in some guy's uncle from Zimbabwe." Williams shot back, "I get it…Norway, Norway, Norway." His comment was an apparent reference to a statement Trump is said to have made in January. The Washington Post reported that immediately following a discussion about protections for immigrants from some African countries, Trump allegedly said, "Why are we having all these people from s**thole countries come here?" Sources indicated that he then suggested the US bring in more individuals from nations like Norway.
