A rare Canadian lynx was spotted in a backyard in Jericho, Vermont, on July 20. This video shows the animal in Mike Kessler’s backyard.

Kessler, a wildlife tracking expert, told WCAX, “these cats are occasionally seen in the Northeast Kingdom but rarely in the Champlain Valley, so it caught him very off guard.” This was the first time he saw a Canadian lynx in his decades-long career. Credit: Mike Kessler via Storyful
