A tornado touched down on Friday, July 27, in Whitemarsh Island, Georgia, and caused damage in the area, according to WJCL.

The storm reportedly knocked over trees and ripped off roofing at a local middle school and elementary school.

The National Weather Service Charleston, SC, tweeted that it would conduct a damage survey for the area on July 28, and confirmed that there was a tornado in the area around 4 pm on July 27.
