Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Army Chief General Bipin Rawat paid tribute to martyrs at India Gate on the occasion of 19th Kargil Vijay Diwas on Thursday. Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba and Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa also paid their respect at Amar Jawan Jyoti. Around 500 Indian soldiers were martyred in Kargil War in 1999. “I am here to pay my tribute on behalf of all Indians for the sacrifice of soldiers”, said Minister Sitharaman.
