A wildfire scorched areas near the port town of Rafina, on the Greek peninsula of Attica, on July 23 as firefighters battled multiple blazes which had already killed at least 49 people.
Numerous people were hospitalized for smoke inhalation or fire-related injuries, including 16 children, fire officials said.
On July 24, the Greek government announced that $23 million (€20 million) would be donated to areas affected by the wildfires.
