A Facebook executive publicly apologized for mistreating Diamond and Silk, the pro-Trump social media personalities. “We badly mishandled our communications with them,” Monika Bickert, vice president of Global Policy Management at Facebook, said at the House Judiciary Committee. “And since then, we’ve worked hard to improve our relationship.” The comments came at a hearing on whether Facebook, Twitter and YouTube are censoring conservative voices on their platforms — a premise Democrats panned as “pure fantasy.”

Diamond and Silk claimed their pro-Trump messages had been censored from Facebook, sparking conservative outrage from GOP allies in Congress.

While Facebook said it never banned Diamond and Silk, it acknowledged Facebook sent them a message on April 5 notifying them their page was “dangerous.”

Facebook has learned from the mistakes and value the perspective the duo Trump loyalists bring the platform, Bickert said.

“We appreciate the perspective that they add to our platform,” Bickert said.

But Diamond and Silk told Fox News Tuesday they are still being censored, and instead of an apology they’d like to see their content no longer be buried. “This is straight bias,” they said.

An executive from Twitter, Nick Pickles, also apologized to GOP Senate candidate Marsha Blackburn for not allowing her to promote a campaign launch video that stressed her anti-abortion stances, saying it “was a mistake.”

“When it was brought to our attention, we rectified it the same day,” said Pickles, senior strategist of public policy at Twitter. “We apologized to her campaign at the time and would like to apologize to her again today.”

Blackburn and Diamond and Silk both testified before the House Judiciary Committee in April complaining how social media platforms suppressed their GOP views. The social media companies were invited at the time, but did not attend.

The companies told Congress they’ve made changes to their platforms to root out false information and ensure there is a free expression of diverse ideas. They rejected any notion they are biased against conservative voices.

“These claims are unfounded and false,” Pickles said.
