A STUNNING display of the RAF's past and present saw 100 planes fill the sky over Buckingham Palace today to mark the force's centenary.


The group - including the famous Spitfires, Lancaster, Chinooks and Typhoons - flew as one above the country to carry out a flypast over the capital.

Crowds of people spilled out into the streets and onto any available rooftop to catch a glimpse of the group soaring overhead.

In another amazing feat a number of Typhoons formed the number 100 - as planes which flew over the trenches decades ago and defended Britain from the skies cruised by.

The Queen, Prince William, the Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry and his new bride Meghan Markle were joined by other royals and politicians for a service this morning at Westminster Abbey, before heading to Buckingham Palace to catch the best view of the historical moment.


The moment, which took weeks of planning, captured the capital's attention as the 100-strong formation flew down the Thames towards the palace.
