Facebook will begin the crusade against fake news with Messenger, its chat service. The feature is in the testing phase. It aims to flag messages from fake accounts. Also, if someone pings you for the first time, Messenger will flash information like, the date the account was created, the corresponding Facebook profile, phone and country details. Social networks are under regulatory pressure globally for failing to curb false information on their platforms. On Wednesday, WhatsApp added a ‘Forwarded’ label to reshared messages, which are prone to be misleading.
