Activists in Belgrade Mark 23 Years Since Srebrenica Massacre

Activists demonstrated in central Belgrade, Serbia, on July 10, prior to the 23rd anniversary of the 1995 Srebrenica massacre the following day. An estimated 8,372 people were murdered by Bosnian Serb forces in Srebrenica, Bosnia, in July 1995.

Participants held up letters spelling out the name of the town, and placards bearing the number of people estimated to have been killed.

On Wednesday, thousands attended a burial at the memorial center in Potocari, just north of Srebrenica, of the recently-discovered remains of 35 victims. A list of the 35 victims was released by the memorial center, including four people who were killed between the ages of 16 and 17, and married couple Nijazija and Ramzija Dudic.
