Many train services across Mumbai were suspended and trains stopped on tracks on July 10 following heavy rains with water level at some places 400 millimetres above tracks. Lines between Nala Sopara and Virar the worst hit, said Ravinder Bhakar, CPRO, Western Railways.

Railways said they served breakfast, beverages and snacks to passengers stranded on tracks. Buses have also been arranged for passengers outside railway stations, Bhakar said.

He said rail services will resume once water level on tracks recedes.
