According to Reuters, US stocks rose on the backs of bank, industrial and energy shares.
Despite continued trade tension between the US and China, investors were getting ahead of the second quarterly earnings season, leading to a strong day of gains on Wall Street.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 314-points, with the S&P 500 gaining 21-points, while the Nasdaq Composite rose 50-points.
Caterpillar spiked by almost 4-percent on the day, providing the biggest boost to the Dow Jones.
