According to a report by CNN, former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and ordered to pay 10.5 million dollars in fines over corruption charges regarding his family's purchase of overseas properties. Sharif's daughter Mariam, widely regarded as Sharif's anointed political heir, also faces 7 years in prison and a 2.6 million dollar fine. Mariam Sharif's husband, Captain Safdar, also reportedly received a one-year jail sentence.
