U.S. Jobs Report for June Beats Expectations Total nonfarm payroll employment increased to 213,000 jobs in June. The gain is higher than the expected 195,000 jobs. It is the 93rd straight month the number has gone up — the longest recorded streak. The unemployment rate rose slightly to 4 percent, above the expected 3.8 percent. This was mainly due to 600,000 Americans entering the workforce. Last month, President Trump was criticized for a tweet that appeared to hint at the positive jobs report before the report had been posted.
Despite the positive report this month, the President refrained from tweeting hints about the economic growth.
