The Northern Territory’s “cracker night” firework celebrations for Territory Day on Sunday, July 1, saw hundreds of grassfires lit across the territory, including one at Farrar, seen in these videos captured by local resident Phillip Ross.

ABC reported the celebrations saw 370 tonnes of fireworks ignited, 27 injuries, 770 triple-0 calls and 450 grassfires.

Ross told Storyful the fire started around 8:00 pm in bushland behind his house as a result of fireworks. He said firefighters were able to reduce the blaze to a controlled burn. Credit: Phillip Ross via Storyful
