Shri Satyanarayan Puja is performed to seek blessing of God Narayan which is one of the forms of Lord Vishnu. The Lord in this form is considered an embodiment of truth. Although there is no fixed day to perform Satyanarayan Puja but doing it during Purnima or Pournami is considered highly auspicious. Know why we should perform our prayers in our house on this day.

सत्य को नारायण के रूप में पूजना ही सत्यनारायण की पूजा है। इसका दूसरा अर्थ यह है कि संसार में एकमात्र नारायण ही सत्य हैं, बाकी सब माया है। सत्य में ही सारा जगत समाया हुआ है। सत्य के सहारे ही शेष भगवान पृथ्वी को धारण करते हैं। श्री सत्यनारायण का पूजन महीने में एक बार पूर्णिमा या संक्रांति को किया जाना चाहिए। सत्यनारायण का पूजन जीवन में सत्य के महत्तव को बतलाता है। इस दिन स्नान करके कोरे अथवा धुले हुए शुद्ध वस्त्र पहनें। माथे पर तिलक लगाएं। अब भगवान गणेश का नाम लेकर पूजन शुरु करें।
