Today marks the 43rd anniversary of the emergency. The emergency was imposed under India’s iron lady Indira Gandhi, but 4 decades later, the ghost of that dark period continues to haunt the congress. The BJP this year has decided to observe a black day today as a sign of protest against the atrocities that were endured by leaders and citizens alike during the emergency.
