With the month long Ramzan ceasefire ending last weekend and Jammu and Kashmir coming under Governor’s rule, the security forces are now going all out to crack down on terror groups operating in the Kashmir valley. On Friday, a list of 22 most wanted terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir was released. Simply put these terrorists will be on top of the security forces’ target list. Out of these 22. 11 are from Hizbul Mujahideen, 7 from the Lashkar-e-Taiba, 2 from Jaish-e-Mohammed and 1 each from Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind and ISJK. These include the masterminds of senior journalist Shujjat Bukhari and Army man Aurungzeb’s killings. One of these terrorists, Dawood Ahmed Sofi, the commander of the Islamic State Jammu and Kashmir inspired by the Islamic State as the name suggests was killed along with 3 of his associates just yesterday. Sending out an unambiguous message that no quarter will be given to terrorists. The Centre has for the very first time deployed National Security Guard or NSG commandos in Jammu and Kashmir. The role of this elite force in J&K will be to train the state police for anti-terror operations carry out intelligence and other special operations and oversee anti-hijack operations at the Srinagar airport. The Black Cats as they’re called are also expected to be deployed soonfor counter-terror operations, but even as security forces embark on ‘Operation All Out’ Part 2, the challenge remains the grave.
