According to Reuters, states may soon collect sales taxes from online retailers with no physical presence in their state.
The US Supreme Court issued an opinion on a 'physical presence rule' that requires a business to have a location within a state, in order for that state to collect sales taxes.
The 5-to-4 ruling overturned a previous precedent from 1992, that barred states from collecting sales taxes from out-of-state online retailers.
