China has reportedly suggested a three-way summit with South Korea and Japan be held in December.
Tokyo-based Kyodo News Agency reports China proposed the trilateral meeting,... adding that North Korea will likely be the focus.
The report said China's proposal is aimed at keeping the U.S. in check in terms of taking the lead in North Korea issues.
It added that it's unusual to hold a three-way summit twice a year, given the neighbors had previously agreed to hold such a meeting once a year.
The leaders of three sides met in Tokyo just last month.
