Flash flooding ripped apart roadways and sidewalks in Houghton, in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, on Sunday, June 17.
Images from Agate Street, which runs downhill through Houghton towards the Keweenaw Waterway, showed the road entirely washed out.
The National Weather Service said law enforcement in Houghton County reported “historic flood damage” resulting from four to eight inches of rain, and warned that thunderstorms could bring more flash flooding to the area.
