Denis Davydov is a gay HIV-positive Russian asylum-seeker who lives in San Jose, California. Anti-LGBT hate crimes in Russia have doubled in the last five years, and the majority of those crimes reported are murders. This is Denis' story of seeking asylum in America and getting detained by ICE in a detention facility for more than a month.
