Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers clarifies the circumstances surrounding Liverpool's choice of penalty taker during their 1-0 Europa League win over Besiktas on Thursday.

Rodgers says events on the pitch have been turned into "a drama", praising stand-in skipper Jordan Henderson's maturity and Mario Balotelli's composure in converting the spot-kick, despite the Italian striker coming in for criticism from club captain Steven Gerrard after the game.

Liverpool play top-four rivals Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday and although Rodgers expects a tough game, he says his side has "the tools to go to any team and win".
