The critically-endangered baby western lowland gorilla, who is yet to be named, was born on Saturday (24/9) at Twycross Zoo in Leicestershire. Heart-warming pictures show protective 16-stone (100kg) mum Ozala, 22, cradling her third child, who she had with 24-year-old dad Oumbi. The tiny youngster will grow to be 6ft tall (1.82m) and weigh a huge 20 stone (127kg). The sex of the animal will not be known for several weeks when zookeepers can properly examine it. The rare primates are usually found in dense rainforests and swamps in Central Africa, but they have declined by over 60 per cent in the wild.
