A young couple who struggled to get on the property ladder after years of renting have taken matters into their own hands by building a CABIN out of recycled materials.
Fed up with paying rent and unable to afford their own home, Christian Montez and Kyra Powell constructed the tiny home at the bargain price of £1000.
The cabin, which measures 2.6m wide by 5m long and has a height of 3.8m, includes a bedroom, a seating area, a log burner and an office space.
Mr Montez completed a masters in architecture in Bristol in May, whilst girlfriend of ten years Kyra, 28, finished furniture design at the National School of Furniture in Oxford two years ago.
The couple then returned home to rural Herefordshire, where they began work on the cabin, which is amongst the 60 acre grounds at Miss Powell's family farm.
Mr Montez, 29, said: "The thing is, in Hereford the cost of houses is quite high when you consider the wages.
"The average price for a two-bedroom house is about £190,000 and when you've been renting for five years, you see your savings dwindle away.
"We were so fed up of renting. It's just dead money that's going into someone else's pocket.
