Two burglars who preyed on vulnerable old people in more than 40 burglaries across nine counties in just four months were jailed for a total of 12 years yesterday (Mon). Callous Michael McDonagh and Patrick Connors targeted the elderly across a wide area of England from Polperro in Cornwall to Cleethorpes in Lincolnshire. Many of their victims were at home as they repeatedly struck in a four-month blitz between mid-September 2012 and late January this year. They smashed windows and doors or posed as customers, relatives or gas engineers to gain entry to homes which they ransacked.
