Counting is under way in four lok sabha seats and 14 assembly seats, bypolls and a poll (karnataka) for which were held on Monday. These bypolls assume significance for both the current government and the opposition as the parties involved will get an idea of what the mood of the public is. The bypolls will test the potential of a united opposition against the Prime Minister's popularity. Bypolls were held in 4 lok sabha seats - Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, Palghar and Bhandara Gondiya in Maharashtra and the Lone Lok Sabha seat in Nagaland.
