Starbucks shut eight-thousand of its stores in the U.S. on Tuesday for an afternoon of racial bias training.
175-thousand employees were said to be taking part in the program.
The coffee shop giant is trying to rebuild its damaged reputation after two black men were arrested in a Philadelphia store for alleged trespassing.
Witnesses and protestors have accused Starbucks of racial profiling and have called for a boycott.
The racial bias training comes after an apology from the firm's Chairman.
Howard Schultz noted Tuesday's training was not a solution, but a first step in tackling racial profiling.
The store closures are estimated to cost Starbucks roughly 20 million dollars in lost sales.
