A local Iraqi leader in Tikrit was killed on Thursday in one of several violent attacks across the country that resulted in more than a dozen deaths. Gunmen burst into the man's home, killing him and five of his family members as they slept before planting explosives and blowing up the house, according to police. — Reuters
