"Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains Are Invaluable Assets", was first proposed in 2005 by President Xi Jinping, when he was the Party chief of southeast China's Zhejiang Province, during his visit to Yucun Village in Huzhou City.

Since then, the local government of Huzhou City has been exploring different eco-friendly development strategies.
