ओम् को प्रथम ध्वनि माना जाता है।

वेदों के अनुसार ब्रह्माण्ड में ईश्वररूपी परमतत्व अर्थात परम मूल ऊर्जा को व्यक्त करने का शब्द ओम् ही है। यह सार्वभौमिक शब्द है, जो सम्पूर्ण ब्रह्माण्ड की आवाज़ है। संस्कृत भाषा में ओम् शब्द तीन अक्षरों से बना है - “अ”, “उ”, और “म”।
