CNN reported Thursday that it spoke to eight women who claimed were victims of what some called harassment and others called inappropriate behavior by Morgan Freeman.
Eight others said they witnessed the actor's alleged misconduct on movie sets and in the offices of his production company.
One of the alleged victims was a production assistant on the set of Freeman's recent film "Going in Style."
She told CNN that the actor repeatedly tried to lift up her skirt and asked if she was wearing underwear.
She also claimed that Freeman subjected her to unwanted touching and comments about her figure and clothing on a near-daily basis.
The others gave similar accounts.
Freeman released a statement through his publicist, apologizing to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected.
He insisted that was never his intent, adding that anyone who knows him knows he would never intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy.
Meanwhile, the person who triggered the recent wave of MeToo activists, Harvey Weinstein, is reportedly going to hand himself in to the NYPD on Friday.
U.S. media reports the disgraced movie mogul is expected to face sexual misconduct charges following an investigation by the Manhattan district attorney's office.
More than 70 women have accused Weinstein of sexual abuse, including rape.
Weinstein has denied having non-consensual sex with anyone.
His lawyers, the NYPD and the Manhattan district attorney's office have all declined to confirm the news reports.
