COMPULSORY ABS As per law, ABS has been made mandatory for all two-wheelers above 125 cc and CBS (combined-braking system) or ABS has been made mandatory for two-wheelers less than or equal to 125 cc. anti lock braking system Coming to the date from when the rule will kick in, it is 1st April 2018 for new models/releases .ie. if any new model is released after 1st April 2018, then, it should come pre-fitted with ABS. For existing models (.ie. if the company has not released a new model or update), then, even these models should compulsorily be updated to ABS model by 1st April 2019, but, some time is being provided to come up with a new design. But, companies (being Indians), will try to take the easiest and cheapest way out and will offer only single-channel ABS mostly just to meet the law requirements. There are some exceptions like KTM which will offer dual-channel ABS when it is made mandatory and not compromise on safety, though they might increase the price by 10–20k.
