Millions of Dollars' Worth of Illicit Drugs Seized in Western Australia Drug Busts

Western Australia Police have cracked down on illegal drug trade in nationwide operations, which resulted in the seizure of millions of dollars’ worth of drugs and hundreds of arrests.

Police stopped drugs like cocaine and methamphetamine from being smuggled into the state during Operation Vitreus and Operation Actum, The West Australian reported. In one instance, a kilogram of cocaine was found inside a set of golf clubs that belonged to a man travelling from New south Wales. On the same night, two men from Melbourne were found with 500 g of meth strapped to each of their chests.

The efforts, coordinated by the National Methamphetamine Strategy Group, had led to 272 arrests. More than 650 charges had been laid. Credit: WA Police via Storyful
