Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden’s resident elephants were given an early taste of summer when their swimming pool was opened on May 15.

The zoo shared a clip of a group of Asian elephants frolicking and bathing in the water as they enjoyed the summer sunshine.

The zoo wrote, “Cooling off in a pool on hot days is helpful because elephants don’t have the ability to sweat. They also flap their large ears to cool the blood vessels across the ear which then circulates throughout the body.”

The clip had earned over 40,000 views at the time of writing. Credit: Cincinnati Zoo & Botanical Garden via Storyful
