A filmer captured incredible drone footage of a gray whale without a tail off the coast of Mailbu on April 3, 2018.
In the video, a drone flies over a gray whale without a tail swimming in the ocean and blowing its spout.
A gray whale’s tail can span up to 10 feet, the filmer told Newsflare, so the whale in the drone video doesn't appear to have a tail or anything close to measuring 10 feet.
As the video continues, the gray whale encounters another gray whale.
“I was filming gray whales passing through Malibu from my drone when I discovered a gray whale with no tail,” the filmer said. “I couldn't believe it!”
“I signaled my good friend Tony who's a lifeguard in Malibu to come over and take a look at what I might've just found,” the filmer continued. “Sure enough, it was a gray that was missing his fluke.”
“I followed the gray for about 10 minutes and then the most amazing thing happened. It started playing with another calf that was on the beach! Rolling, eating nutrients from the sand and spitting the sand out! It was incredible!”
