A 104-year-old scientist David Goodall is all set to die. He is traveling to the Swiss city of Basel to an end of life clinic. The clinic has approved his application for euthanasia. The renowned academician wants to end his life as Switzerland has a programme of legal assisted dying. Goodall told reporters at Perth airport that he will fly to Bordeaux to see some members of his family before travelling to Switzerland. He says he has supported voluntary euthanasia for a long time. And he says that he's sorry for having to travel abroad to end his life. Goodall is an honorary research associate at Edith Cowan University in the West Australian capital of Perth. He does not have a terminal illness, but is seeking voluntary euthanasia. He wants to end his life because he believes his quality of life has deteriorated. Euthanasia is remains illegal in Australia, although some of the states and territories of the country have laws on the practice.
