A confirmed tornado touched down in Tescott, Kansas, on May 1 marking a late start to the stateā€™s tornado season.

The Wichita Eagle reported there were no injuries but one home was damaged by the storm in Tescott, Ottawa County. The last time Kansas has entered May without any tornado sightings was in 1980, according to the Wichita-based paper.

Outside Ottawa County, the National Weather Service had tornado watch notices for 10 other countries in central, north and eastern Kansas.
