Cottage Cheese Doughnut Holes recipe
Very easy to make, ideal for beginners. A quick dessert which only takes 15 minutes to prepare.
The dough does not contain yeast, just a small amount of baking powder, so no need to let it rest, you can deep-fry the doughnuts right after mixing all the ingredients.
Ingredients:
- 250g (grams) of cottage cheese, (a fresh cheese curd product with a mild flavor.)
- 250g of plain flour,
- 200ml (millilitre) sour cream or kefir,
- 3 eggs,
- 3 teaspoons of vanilla sugar,
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder,
&
- Vegetable oil for deep-frying,
- to serve: apricot jam & powdered sugar.
Instructions:
1. Crumble the cottage cheese into a bowl. Add the ingredients: 3 eggs, flour, sour cream, vanilla sugar and baking powder, then combine well.
2. Heat the oil to medium temperature. About 3-4 cm is deep enough.
3. With 2 teaspoons scoop and drop little balls into the hot oil and fry each side until golden brown, it takes about 4-5 minutes.
Note: You have to figure out the combination of oil temperature, doughnut ball size and frying time to get them just right.
4. Transfer the doughnuts to a paper towel to get rid of vegetable oil’s excesses.
5.Continue to fry the rest of the dough until finished.
6. Place them onto a serving dish, dust with powdered sugar and serve with jam.
