CAIRO, Egypt: The pan-Arabic news channel Al-Jazeera has broadcast an audio claim of responsibility by the North African branch of Al-Qaida for recent attacks in Algeria that killed 55 people.
A voice purportedly belonging to spokesman Salah Abu Mohammed says the group carried out Tuesday's attack on a police academy as well an attack Wednesday on a Canadian engineering firm.
The two attacks killed a total of 55 people, according to Algerian authorities.
There was no way to authenticate Friday's message but in the past militant groups have delivered responsibility claims via the news channel.
