Acupuncture (or zhenjiu) is a time-honored and amazing medical practice that originated in China. “Zhen” (or needling) refers to the practice of inserting needles into the body of patients and “jiu” (or heating) literally means to heat the skin of patients with burning moxa. According to the theory of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the life-energy, known as “qixue”, flows deep in the human body through a complicated network of channels called the meridian system (or Jingluo), in which there are some special points called acupuncture points (or xuewei).
