A 41-year-old Sussex teacher was convicted on charges of drink-driving on April 25, with footage from her own dashcam showing her erratic driving and crash.
The footage was released by police to show “exactly what it looks like to drive under the influence of alcohol”. In it, the car swerves across motorway lanes, speeds down residential roads, comes off the road at a roundabout, careers around roadworks like a racing driver, endangering other drivers, and eventually crashes into a parked car.
Sussex Police said they were alerted to the incident on April 4. After the collision, the woman’s vehicle, a white Vauxhall Corsa, was seen reversing and driving off again, before stopping again a short distance later. The woman, Louise Willard, was then given a breath test, which found she had almost three times the legal limit of alcohol.
