Sony Sets Release Date for 'Jumanji' Sequel Sony’s highest-grossing film ever at the domestic box office will see its sequel hit theaters in December 2019, Sony chairman Tom Rothman announced at CinemaCon recently ‘Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle’ earned 404.1 million domestically and more than $956 million worldwide. Rothman told fans of the reboot “Don’t give all your screens to Star Wars,” as ‘Star Wars: Episode IX’ and other big releases are slated for December 2019, as well. ‘Jumanji’ starred Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
