With the Karnataka Assembly polls just round the corner, the political permutations and combinations are picking up the pace, but yet again the grim picture of the gender bias in politics has come to fore. Out of the 154 candidates that BJP will be fielding, only three women have made it to the list. During the 2013 Assembly Elections, the party fielded eight women, of which only one -- Shashikala Jolle from Nippani, won. In contrast, the Congress will be fielding 15 women of the 218 candidates whose names have been announced by the party.
